Farmers markets in the area will be opening soon. This is a wonderful time of year to increase your veggie intake and even try some new ones! Don’t forget to clean all of your produce well before eating or cooking!
Red River Market Opens July 13, opened Saturdays from 10-2, goes until October 26à 63 5th St N downtown Fargo
Farmers market at West Acres: Located in the west parking lot, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 10-5, June 27-october 31
Moorhead Center Mall Market: Located in the south parking lot of the mall at 4th St N & Center Avenue. This market is on June 20th and 27th from 2:00-6:00pm, July 11th, 18th, and 25th from 2:00-7:00pm, August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 2:00-7:00. In September it is on Tuesday’s until the 12th from 2:00-6:00.
Other ways to shop fresh produce in the FM area:
Hildebrandt Farm in west Fargo describes themselves as the greenhouse of the FM area. They have fresh fruit and a veggie market. They use organic methods of gardening. You can visit them at their west Fargo location or at the red river farmers market where they are vendors every Saturday starting July 14th until the end of October.
Ladybug acres veggie barn: They grow a large variety of different veggies at their farm about 25 miles out of Fargo. They are open on Saturdays at 2110 South University Drive in Fargo. Their stand is set up as a mini barn and all of their reviews are incredibly friendly!
Washing produce before eating is highly recommended. It’s good practice and can reduce or in some cases eliminate residues that may be on the food. Be sure to wash your hands before getting started. Wash fruits and veggies under running water just before eating or cooking them. Avoid soaps, detergents and produce washes which are not recommended. Washing is still important for those fruits and veggies you plan on pealing such as melons, or cucumbers
